OSLO, Norway (AP) ? Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik says prison officers are trying to drive him to suicide in conditions he describes as "a mini Abu Ghraib," with strict security regimes and unpredictable guards.
In a 27-page letter to prison officials obtained by the AP, Breivik writes he is frustrated that guards do not cooperate with his carefully planned daily schedule and that they serve him cold coffee. The 33-year-old rightwing fanatic also alleges he is denied a reading lamp, has restricted access to candy and is given daily strip searches.
Breivik killed 77 people in a car bombing and shooting attacks in Norway's worst peacetime massacre. He was sentenced to 21 years, which may be extended as long as he is considered a danger to society.
